WHO WE ARE
DC Kosher is a operated as a service to the greater DC community, under the supervision of local Orthodox Rabbis.
Our Mission
The mission of DC Kosher is to help people in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) observe kosher dietary laws in strict accordance with Jewish law (halakha). As such, we work with restaurants and local manufacturers and help them become kosher certified.
DC Kosher does not charge the restaurant owners or manufacturers for this certification. We view it as a blessing and honor to provide certification and we waive our fee in order to encourage more restaurants to become certified.
Standards & Regulations
DC Kosher is an Orthodox kashrut organization that follows rigorous rules and procedures. Many of our policies are similar to those of well known kashrut organizations. There are volunteer supervisors (mashgichim) who conduct spot checks to insure that the restaurants are abiding by Jewish law, and that all products and items meet the kashrut standards as established by the Kashrut Supervision Board.
We welcome questions about our procedures. You can contact us at info@dckosher.org
This is a community project that relies upon volunteer supervisors (mashgichim) to help us maintain the proper standards of certification. If you are interested in serving as a volunteer mashgiach please contact us at info@dckosher.org.
